Rooms & Venues

The TUU has facilities in both Hobart & Launceston that are available for students to use.

Hobart - Sandy Bay Campus

Located above the Refectory in the retail precinct on Churchill Avenue, the TUU building offers a range of facilities that students, clubs and societies are welcome to use,  this is also where you can call in, meet and chat with your student representatives.


There are 2 located on the first floor; the Stanley Burbury which seats approximately 40 and the smaller Victor Burley Meeting Room which can seat 8 – 10 persons.

Boardroom facilities include

  • Flat screen TV, with HDMI/VGA connections
  • Whiteboard
  • Video conferencing

There is no room hire fee for affiliated clubs and societies or students, these rooms are not available to external organisations. To make a booking or check availability of the spaces, contact us on (03) 6226 2495 or email

Kitchen Facilities

Our communal kitchen has several microwaves and seating to enjoy your lunch along with tea, coffee making facilities.  Daily papers, books, a Nintendo Wii and university WiFi are also available.

Study Zone

With seating for over 20, this space is an ideal place to study, access the WiFi or meet up with friends.

Women's Room

A pleasant sunny room, run by our Women’s Officer, tea and coffee making facilities, comfy lounges, bookshelves stocked with books written by and about inspiring women and an Ipad to catch up on the days events.

Parenting Room

A quiet space located away from the busy central areas.  The room includes a cot, lounge, change table and toys.

Queer Room

A quiet space where students can relax and chill, lounges, magazines, LGBTI information, close to kitchen facilities.
