National Initiatives

The TUU is a member of the Australian Association of Campus Activities (AACA), through this membership UTAS students are eligible to enter a number of national competitions.

National Campus Band Competition

The National Campus Band Competition (NCBC) is the largest band comp of its type in the southern hemisphere. Previous winners include Jebediah, Eskimo Joe & 78 Saab.

Heats are held at participating campuses across the country. With bands progressing through the heats, semi finals and state finals, to compete at the national final. For Tasmania, heats are usually held in both Hobart and Launceston followed by a state final.

Winners of the 2014 Tasmania Final were the White Rose Project, the band went on to play  a packed house at Sydney’s Home Nightclub for the national final, and placed a well earn’t 2nd.

National Campus Art Prize

The National Campus Art Prize (NCAP)  is open to any UTAS student with or without an art background. The Art Prize attempts to draw out talents which may remain largely hidden otherwise and focuses on participation. The competition is held online and there are some great prizes up for grabs.
