Candidate Statements

The Tasmania University Union is changing. We’ve had some great successes in recent years and run some fantastic initiatives to support the students at the University of Tasmania.

These have included:

  • Provision of funding for the SIPS internships.
  • Lobbied the BoM to consider the ethical case for divestment.
  • Introduction of the Find the Right Blend campaign which is focused on creating a safe, fair and well university community.
  • Entered into formal partnerships with Red Frogs Australia, Metro Tasmania, Produce to the People, Orange Sky and Edge Radio.
  • Improved brand recognition of the TUU through expanding our social media presence.
  • Supported a growing number of student societies and sports clubs.
  • Provided support for students through our independent advocacy service as well as financially supporting other initiatives like the Student Legal Service.

The University and its community has undergone rapid change in recent years and we’d like to adapt to those changes to better serve the students. We want to know more about the students we represent and give them a strong voice through quality student representation.

You can be a part of this transformation by getting involved with your TUU and help shape our future as well as your own with opportunities to innovate, grow and become community leaders both now and into the future.

Why get involved with the TUU?

  • You’ll be rewarded for your efforts.
  • You’ll enjoy a flexible work environment that fits in with your studies.
  • A strong emphasis on career development.
  • Leadership and collaboration opportunities within the University Community.

Now is your chance to play a major role in the quality of student life at your campus. If you are keen to make a difference in your region this is the time to get involved.
